The final Monday evening of the summer took us to an old favourite location, Glasgow Necropolis. One again, there was dressing up in Monk costumes ....

There was a good turn-out for the Monday evening outing to Mugdock Castle. We took the monk outfit along, and had Eric and Dave posing among the ruins.
The club has a display of prints in Kirkintilloch and Bishopbriggs Libraries for the next couple of weeks.

We've had a couple of outings in the past fortnight. The first was a Monday evening in Glasgow's Botanic Gardens and the surrounding West End area, with good weather thrown in. Then we had a dozen members take a guided tour of the Loxley Colour print factory at Mollinsburn. A lot was learned.
Meantime, the acceptance list for the Scottish Photographic Federation Annual Portfolio came out. This year, our members had 21 images included, up from 14 last year and 5 in 2023. This year's are listed here.
And more news from the SPF, Duncan's Badminton Stretch print was included in the SPF entry at the PAGB Inter-Federation Competition and it scored well. It's good to see our club listed beside the usual suspects, here.

For our latest Monday evening gathering, we made use of the studio in our clubhouse. Doing our own modelling, and with a couple of props, some interesting images were produced. Some photos were then added into creative composites….

We had another item for the press cuttings collection last week as the club featured in a Kirkintilloch Herald article about the grants available from the council.
Our Monday evening out on 30th June took us to Drumpellier Park at Coatbridge. The birds on the loch there were largely ignored as dancer Imogen had stopped off on her way home from a competition to do some posing for us.

Starting this update, we have a well done to one of our members. The winner of the annual Milngavie Week Photographic Competition was Andy Gillies with his Sparrowhawk Portrait.
We managed to add a press cutting to the collection, as our collaboration with the Rotary Club for the Young Photographer competition made the papers. Meantime, this year's competition has been launched. The theme is 'Happiness in nature'.

The Loch Ardinning Reserve was the venue for the latest Monday evening outing. The overcast conditions didn't give us much in the way of good light, but it was a new location for some members and an enjoyable walk for everybody.

Our second 'Monday Meander' outing of the summer took us to Glasgow's riverside, specifically the Broomielaw area. A fine evening gave us opportunities for architectural, street and even drone photography.

This summer, we're having fortnightly Monday evening outings. For the first one, on 5th May, we visited the Silvanus sculpture on the Antonine Way near Kilsyth. It was a fine evening, and there was even a sunset.
On Saturday morning, we hosted Kirkintilloch Rotary Club in the clubhouse for the awards presentation for their Young Photographer competition. The theme for the competition was water and the quality of the entries was very high. None of them would be out of place in our club competitions.
We discussed how to make the event even better next year, when the competition theme will be 'Happiness in Nature'.
